Meet and greet San Juan Cafe at 5pm on March 29, 2026.
The workshop ends the night of April 3, 2026.
The iconic National Park shots that everyone gets are nice to put in your bucket list, but there are some really beautiful locations in other parts of southeast Utah. The mesas, buttes, rivers and drives reveal themselves in different ways as the light changes. The names are as colorful as the red rock that surrounds you here: The Goosenecks, House on Fire, Valley of the Gods, Moki Dugway, Butler Wash Ruins, even Mexican Hat....
The heights and roads are breathtaking at every turn. If you have an extreme fear of heights, you may want to sit this one out, as we drive Highway 261 up the cliff face 1,200 feet (375 meters) without guardrails for amazing panoramas of the surrounding mesas.
The ancient Ancestral Puebloan (formerly called Anazasi) ruins and petroglyphs make great subjects for illustrating stories in photography. Learning and pondering about these ancient cultures will fill your soul as well as your memory card
The core of this exploration will be off the beaten path (but easily accessible) views.
We will use a full range of lenses (wide, mid-range, telephoto) to capture the beauty in this area.
Transporation from Mexican Hat will be provided.
